The walking requires a moderate level of fitness in order to gain maximum enjoyment. We recommend that you do plenty of hill walks prior to coming on the walk.

Where does the trail commence from?
The trail commences from our central Christchurch office at 24 New Regent Street. This is a short twenty minute drive from Christchurch's International Airport and within easy walking distance from most of Christchurch's main hotels.

What sort of accommodation and food can I expect?
All of the accommodation is comfortable and on a double or twin share basis. You will enjoy great local cuisine at night. All meals (except dinner on Day Four).

What do I carry and what happens with the rest of my luggage?
Your luggage will be transported for you each day to your accommodation that night. Unfortunately there is no luggage storage available at our office. All you need to carry while walking is your daypack with your lunch, drink bottle, clothing requirements for the day, camera and any incidentals.

Do I really need thermals and a fleece, even in summer?
As most of the walking tracks are in open country and can be exposed, we recommend that you be prepared for all weather conditions.

Tuatara Tours take a maximum of twelve people on the trail. We feel this gives you the best opportunity to gain as much as possible from your experience. We are happy to discuss options for groups of more than twelve with you.
