I was born on the West Coast of the South Island and have a great passion for the wilderness. The majority of my working years were devoted to education, as well as organising and guiding groups in outdoor recreational activities. The mountains, valleys and rivers in Canterbury, Nelson Lakes and the West Coast are my recreational playground.

I take immense satisfaction guiding many alpine tramps climbing the 2885 meter peak of Mt Tapuaenuku, towards the head of the Awatere Valley - a three day tramp with about 80 river crossings and a very dramatic and rugged landscape.
When not tramping or biking, I love gardening, helping my husband on the farm, and always find time to devour a good book.
